We Stand in Solidarity with Ukraine

Sunflowers

We are shocked and devastated by the invasion of Ukraine. Children and young people bear some of the hardest consequences of warfare.

War puts them at increased risk of violence, sexual abuse and exploitation. Displacement puts them at risk of being separated from their families and exposure to considerable harm. The situation in which Ukrainian children and young people currently find themselves – far from home, and often far from loved ones – will also undoubtedly have a detrimental effect on their health and wellbeing, and in particular their mental health.

“CHILDREN ARE VERY CONCERNED BECAUSE THEIR HOMES ARE BEING BOMBED, AND THEY CRY FOR THEIR FATHERS WHO HAVE LEFT TO PROTECT UKRAINE.”

– La Strada Ukraine

Child Helpline International – and in particular, our European members – stand ready to support other organisations, Member States and the EU to protect Ukraine’s children and young people.
