Joining hands with UNICEF in Eastern and Southern Africa to ensure children’s voices are heard

We are happy to have partnered with UNICEF’s Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office (ESARO) to support child helplines in the Eastern and Southern Africa (ESA) region. This exciting collaboration will focus on improving call response mechanisms, case management and referral of contacts.

During the kick-off meeting at the Ninth Regional Consultation of Child Helplines in Africa, we agreed that there are many different approaches to call responses and referrals within the region.

In response, we aim to strengthen the capacity of child helplines in Eastern and Southern Africa by developing case management tools and encouraging their use.

stronger data advocacy and harmonised terminology

The main objectives of the project are strengthening the quality assurance of child helplines in 15 countries and strengthening referrals in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By the end of the project, both organisations hope to see stronger data advocacy and harmonised terminology.

The project effectively kicked off in January 2018 and will run for a period of 13 months. We will work closely with our member child helplines, our #Youth, UNICEF ESARO, UNICEF country offices and other key stakeholders.
