Launch! eLearning on OCSEA, hotlines and reporting portals together with IWF

In partnership with the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), we are excited to announce the launch of our new eLearning module titled “Obstructing Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse: An Introduction to Hotlines and Reporting Portals” (2021).

This latest eLearning module builds off one of Child Helpline International’s earlier elearning modules, “Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (Introduction)” (2020).


Targeted towards…

This interactive handbook is exclusively targeted towards child helpline staff, including managers and counsellors – particularly for child helplines who host reporting portals – and telecoms staff.


Aim and topics…

The aim of this interactive handbook is to enhance child helpline staff and telecoms staff knowledge of Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, particularly Child Sexual Abuse Materials, and to provide more information on the work of hotlines and reporting portals and on the tools they provide. The topics covered in this interactive handbook include:

  • Terminology and key data relating to Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse;
  • The different forms of Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, including a zoom-in on what are Child Sexual Abuse Materials;
  • The role of hotlines;
  • The roles of reporting portals; and,
  • What you can do to support and advise a victim of online child sexual exploitation and abuse, or any person of concern, in order to report an issue to a hotline and reporting portal.
