La Strada-Ukraine is now operating the 116 111 number

Patterns1

We are proud to announce that as of June 1 2017, the European regionally-harmonised number 116 111 will be operational in Ukraine. Our member ‘La Strada-Ukraine’ has been leading this process to ensure that children and young people can access the hotline services through the toll-free number 116 111. This could have not been possible without the support of the local telecom operators ‘Kyivstar’ and ‘lifecell’, and the Association of Mobile Network Operators ‘Tellas’.

The introduction of the 116 111 number in Ukraine follows the European Commission’s directive that in 2007 allocated the number 116 to services of social values.

Child Helpline International and the GSMA have been working together to foster collaboration between child helplines and telecom operators in order to make the 116 111 number accessible, free-of-cost, from anywhere in Europe. Currently, the number is operated in 24 Member States, 2 Candidate Member States and 3 Non-EU Members.

We are very happy that the National Commission for the State Regulation of Communications in Ukraine has decided to allocate the 116 111 number to our member ‘La Strada-Ukraine’.

Congratulations for the hard work to all the stakeholders involved!
