Child Helplines and Inclusive Practice

Inclusive Practice

Between 2018 and 2021, Child Helpline International explored how child helplines could become more accessible for children and young people from marginalised groups within the European Union. These activities were part of our WeListen project, funded by the European Commission’s Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme (2014-2020) (REC).

By using targeted research, annual child helpline data, and workshops, our Communities of Practice were able to explore how to improve inclusive practices as a network and develop a number of eLearning modules. Above you can read our key learnings and best practices, as well as find links to helpful resources and eLearning modules for child helpline counsellors.

This information is by no means an exhaustive resource and should be considered as a starting point for child helplines to reflect on existing practices. Many of the findings from one area of focus can also be applicable to other vulnerable or minority groups.

We would like to extend a special thank you to all of our members and partners who have taken part in our Communities of Practice and Workshops over the last four years.
