Magdalena Aguilar

Co-Chief Executive

As one of the Co-Chief Executives, I am a member of the Management Board of Child Helpline International. I am responsible for managing our programmatic work which includes the creation of child helplines, the development of thematic expertise on gender mainstreaming, child online protection and youth participation amongst others. Understanding the power of joint efforts, I work closely with key stakeholders to achieve sustainable and holistic results for us and our member child helplines worldwide.

I am originally from Argentina and I have enjoyed living abroad and traveling the world: while I’m proud of my roots I consider myself a “citizen of the world”. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Philosophy from the American University in Washington DC and a Master’s degree in Human Rights, Development and Social Justice from the Institute of Social Studies (The Hague). I have been working in the field of human rights for more than 12 years and have served widely as a resource person for multilateral agencies, international organisations, civil society and academia.

I am really proud to say that we at Child Helpline International listen to children’s voices not only through the work that our member child helplines do every minute every day, but also by having a wonderful group of young people (Youth Advisory Council) who advices us, leads us and makes sure that we keep their voices at the core of what we do.
