"I think a lot about ending my life.”

Child Helpline International marks #WorldMentalHealthDay today, launching our film highlighting the lack of resources that prevent child helplines from picking up EVERY call from a young person in crisis. Child helplines need to be there for all children, all the time. Help us to make this a reality. Please go to bit.ly/NoChildLeftUnheard and donate now.

The Voices of Children - Youth Participation Video - Asia Pacific

To celebrate CHI’s 10th Anniversary and to support the launch of the 10 year Data Publications, Child Helpline International produced six Youth Participation Videos – one for our Global Launch at the United Nations and five regional Policy Dialogues in Americas and Caribbean, Africa, Europe, Asia Pacific and Middle East and North Africa. Topics of the video focussed on themes highlighted in each data publication, more specifically, the idea of these short films was to include the participation and involvement of children and young people through film and acting. Each video illustrates the voices of children and young people and uncovers how they interpret feelings, hardships, adversities and problems that they are exposed to on a daily basis in their region. Many thanks to Ivet Pieper, Youth Participation Video Consultant who facilitated the project.

Global Data - The Voices of Children and Young People

NEW YORK, 20 November 2013 – "The Voices of Children and Young People", a report released today at the United Nations, marks the 10th anniversary of Child Helpline International (CHI), a network of 173 child helpline members operating in 141 countries and provides ten years of data and analysis drawn from a series of regional studies. The publication shows that every child has the right to be heard and that child helplines respond to the needs of children and are at the forefront of child protection. Child helplines around the world are in a unique position to listen to children and young people directly. The data collected by child helplines about the contacts made with them is a vital source of information that can be used to make informed policy decision by governments, and can help civil society organisations align their programmes in the best interest of child or young person, so that collectively they are able to strengthen child protection systems both nationally and locally.
