CHI Governance - Every child helpline an equal voice

The philosophy of our network, bottom-up and grass roots, is reflected in our governance structure where the highest mandated power is the General Assembly of child helplines themselves. Each and every full member child helpline in our network has an equal voice on matters such as final strategy approval. The General Assembly of child helplines meets once every two years at the International Consultation and appoints Regional Representatives to the Supervisory Board. These five Regional Representatives are appointed by child helplines members to ensure that the needs of child helplines will always be reflected by the work of the CHI Secretariat.

Child helplines from all over the world are members of the CHI network. Together they are a global movement, working to protect the rights of the children. Since CHI was founded in 2003, the network has grown rapidly to 107 full members (November 2009) in 90 countries and 26 associate members in as many countries. Now that the network has been in existence for some years, CHI has started to enforce its membership criteria to ensure that child helplines are committed and involved in the network. This will help the CHI network to strengthen, prosper and develop in the coming years.

More information on the CHI membership criteria can be found here.

The CHI Secretariat is responsible for implementation of strategies, policies and daily activities of the network. The CHI Secretariat serves the needs of the network and assist individual members with their requests as much as possible.
